Lanarce is situated on the borders of three departments and formerly three historic provinces: Gévaudan (that of the Beast); Velay (Le Puy-en-Velay) and Vivarais (Mende). From the hotel, you can explore the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, which combines nature, culture, history and gastronomy in such an ideal way.

To begin... surrounded by magnificent fir forests, pastures and rivers, the village of Lanarce, on the Ardèche mountains, offers beautiful prospects for nature lovers and hikers. Fishermen will tease the trout in the Espezonnette (river classified in 1st category) a few meters from the hotel, hikers will take the Napoleonic way to join the GR 4 and 7 and the Stevenson Way while contemplatives will enjoy the shade of the fir trees.

Heritage lovers will be able to admire the Ranc Courbier, the neo-Romanesque church built in 1875 in the heart of the village, and will shiver as they cross the threshold of the sadly legendary Auberge de Peyrebeille. The scene of an astonishing succession of crimes in the 19th century, it inspired Claude Autant-Lara's film with Fernandel, "L'Auberge Rouge" which made it famous.
